Washer-disinfector
Sterile processing definition
A washer-disinfector is an automated machine that cleans instruments and then thermally or chemically disinfects them, moving through cycles such as prewash, enzyme wash, detergent wash, rinse, thermal rinse and drying. Instruments must be loaded so water can reach all surfaces, with hinged instruments open and items not stacked, and the cycle should be verified with cleaning indicators.
