Sterile processing definition
Sterile items are stored in a clean, controlled, positive-pressure area with limited traffic. Shelving should keep items at least 8 to 10 inches above the floor, at least 18 inches below the ceiling or sprinkler heads, and at least 2 inches from outside walls. Items should be handled as little as possible and kept away from moisture and dust.
